Where Geek Meets Sports Fan…

Layer Tennis!

I wish I was creative and talented enough to participate in this, but alas I am just a a season ticket holder.  Layer Tennis is a live design event.  Two designers are pinned head to head.  With the decision of a coin toss, one designer begins with file (the Serve).  The designers will then battle live by sending the file back and forth (volley).  Each designer gets 15 minutes to complete the volley and send it back.

Competitors change the file using using video, animation, sound, photos, etc. They  compete for 10 full volleys, while there is a writer commentating on the entire event.

Here’s some highlights from the last season’s last match (one of my favorites!):

Round 1 Serve by Shaun Inman:
Round 1

Round 2 The Return by Chris Glass:
Round 2

Round 5 Volley by Shaun Inman:
Round 5

Round 6 Volley by Chris Glass:
Round 6
