Surprising Twists of Pandora…

I was listening to Pandora at work the other day (I don’t remember the station anymore) and guess who came on but Queen Latifah.  Remember when she was a rapper?  I’m pretty sure my younger sisters didn’t even know this…

The movie star, Cover Girl, and Jenny Craig spokesperson we all know and love started out as a rapper.  Her debut album, All Hail the Queen, featured the critically acclaimed single “Ladies First”.

The song that came on my radio, though, was the song “U.N.I.T.Y” from the album Black Reign.  This is probably my favorite Queen Latifah single of all time.  It speaks out about disrespect for women in society.  Fun fact:  Even though the song uses the words “hoe” and “bitch” many radio stations chose not to censor it because of the message of the song.
