Just What I Needed…

One more thing to keep me busy on my work commute/another obsession.  Have you heard of KenKen Puzzles?  They are similar to Sudoku, but they add the element of arithmetic.

The puzzles were designed but a Japanese math teacher in 2004.  KenKen can be translated in Japanese to “the square of wisdom” or “cleverness squared”.


Ok so the rules:

  1. Each row and each column must contain the numbers 1 through 6 without repeating.
  2. The numbers within the heavily outlined boxes, called cages, must combine using the given operation (in any order) to produce the target numbers in the top left corners.
  3. Freebies:  Fill in single-box cages with the number in the top left corner.

Think you can do it?  Taking notes seems to help, but I like the extra element of math which I tend to forget since I left high school.  Enjoy and find the answer to the solution above, below:
